| Restoring Icon (system folder) to Desktop. Somehow, I deleted the IE-7 icon from my desktop. It was the system folder, not just a shortcut. (When I right-clicked on it, I got Internet Options, and other selections that I don't get with a short cut). I have several ID's set up on my machine, and the IE-7 item in the desktop of the other ID's indicate that it is a system folder, and not a file. However, MS will not let me copy this folder so that I can paste it (those edit options shaded over). Can someone tell me how to restore this system file to my desktop? Or point me to a link in the "new and improved" MS "help" site that is quite convoluted, not clearly organized, and constantly moving me toward buying something else? Thanks for your help. |

| Re: Restoring Icon (system folder) to Desktop. I am running MS XP. I went to desktop, right clicked, then to Properties\Desktop\Customize Desktop. However, there was no IE box to check, only three boxes -- "My Documents", "My Computer", "My Network Places". There was also a horizontal window, showing the icon images for "My Documents", "My Computer", "My Network Places", and "Recycle Bin", but no image for IE. There were two buttons under the displayed icon images -- one was to change the icon image, the other button was to restore the default image. I tried the "restore" button just to see if it would reinsert the IE icon on my desktop, but it didn't. I have also checked my Recycle Bin, but the IE folder is not there either. | Re: Restoring Icon (system folder) to Desktop. In WinXP SP2/Win2K03 with IE7 installed, that option is removed by MS07-061 (13 Nov-07), Peter. @Quixter: See Don Varnau's reply. | Re: Restoring Icon (system folder) to Desktop. YW. This is specific to IE7 running in WinXP and Win2K03, at least for now. No publicly available references currently either. -- ~PA Bear Peter Foldes wrote: > Thanks Robear. I have W2003 IE 6 and I just followed the lead it showed > me.
