| embedded links weird problem Hi all. I have a recurring problem with IE7 that went away on re-install, then came back. I'm running Win XP Home SP2 and IE7 (version 7.0.5730.13) and my problem is this: Pop-up blocker on OR off, when I click on an embedded link that redirects, the window opens, appears to be loading and then finishes either blank or with an error message ".... can't be found ..yada yada yada" (ok, so no "yada yada yada"). this is particularly annoying when trying to log into a bank or other financial site, but the problem is not limited to "secure" (https) sites. As I said, I had it once before, removed and re-installed IE7 and it went away for a while, but now .... it's baaaack! I searched around before posting here, but no fixes found. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance and as always, best regards, morey G |

| Re: embedded links weird problem We can't explain an error message when all you can say about it is "yada yada yada". Here's my guess as to what it really says: "Error message in Internet Explorer 7: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926431 --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est MG. wrote: > Hi all. > I have a recurring problem with IE7 that went away on re-install, then came > back. | Re: embedded links weird problem Leonard I guess my attempt at humour means I should keep my day job. perhaps I should have been more specific in the first post - the problem is not one of network connectivity. if you read my post is has to do with EMBEDDED LINKS and REDIRECTS, not initial connections. if it was a network issue i don't think i would have connected intitally? And you may be right as to the exact error message, I didn't have the patience to read through it and clicked the window shut. and being something of an "oldie" as opposed to a "newbie", i cleared the cache, deleted temp|history, the whole deal. i even went through all the "3rd party add-ons" stuff last time it happened. I searched the kb for the problem initially, tried the fixes suggested, and NONE of them worked. That's why I went the "uninstall/re-install" route. I was hoping that perhaps someone had encountered a similar problem here.... thanks for the network issues link though, if i have any problems I'll be sure to use that page Regards Morey "Leonard Grey" <Leonard@Grey.invalid> wrote in message news:udHh$fSNIHA.2376@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > We can't explain an error message when all you can say about it is "yada > yada yada". > > Here's my guess as to what it really says: > > "Error message in Internet Explorer 7: Internet Explorer cannot display > the webpage" > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926431 > > --- > Leonard Grey > Errare humanum est > > MG. wrote: >> Hi all. >> I have a recurring problem with IE7 that went away on re-install, then >> came back. | Re: embedded links weird problem oh, sorry, i forgot to add your guess was WRONG... it seems that you post that same link as the solution to ALL problems Leonard.... do you READ the posts??? Sorry, but i've been i've been about this ng for about 15 plus years now and i don't have patience for people who think they're helping by pointing out how someone else is mistaken "Leonard Grey" <Leonard@Grey.invalid> wrote in message news:udHh$fSNIHA.2376@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... | Re: embedded links weird problem Robert, Thanks for the program lead. I installed it and am in the process of figuring out how to decipher the results and how to use the tool. Once I get a handle on it, I'll post back. thank you again!
