Something's VERY Wrong w/IE7 - "Can't Display Page" MessagesGalore!!!

ALERT!!!

Something is very wrong with IE7 (since earlier today). It's blowing
up with "can't display the page" messages all over the place. It's
happening on a ton of different sites. Sometimes it's the whole page
and other times it's just a portion of the page.

Hopefully someone is already on this.

YIKES!!!

RE: Something's VERY Wrong w/IE7 - "Can't Display Page" Messages Galor

I've been having the same problem for awhile now. We've had to remove IE 7
from several of our computers in my office because it just seems to hang on a
lot of sites. Uninstallling 7 and reverting to 6.0 cleared up the problem for
us. Hopefully someone at MS will devise a solution for this.

Re: Something's VERY Wrong w/IE7 - "Can't Display Page" Messages Galor

1. Error message after you install a Windows Internet Explorer 7 update from
Windows Update or from Microsoft Update: "Webpage cannot be displayed":
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942818

2. Required reading IMHO before installing IE7:

Sandi's Installation Tips <= FOLLOW THESE TIPS TO THE LETTER!
http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install

[And I strongly recommend using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow.../getitnow.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update. Make *certain* that you
check in at Windows Update immediately after installing IE7 and install any
critical updates offered. If Optional Updates category offers Root
Certificates update, I recommend installing it to take full advantage of
IE7's additional security.]
