IE7/google problem

For several months when I try to go to a specific
website...www.linkedin.com..., instead of opening the site, I get a "google"
list of linkedin sites (as though I had typed the url into google instead of
IE7). That's bad enough but when I then try to link from the google list, I
receive the message that Internet Explorer is unable to open the site.
Strangely though, once in a blue moon, I am able to link to the site directly
from IE7, but 5 minutes later the same previous problem happens. And today,
that same problem happened with www.walmart.com. What is going on and how do
I fix it?

Absent any other detailed information...

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or other appropriate forums for expert
analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

RE: IE7/google problem

It's because of the software that was installed by Microsoft which allows
searching from the address bar. If there's any delay from the server you want
to go to, your page gets hijacked. Under Internet Options, scroll down to
"Search from the Address bar," and select "Do not search from the Address
bar."
