Newby missing navigation toolbar

Upon startup yesterday, the toolbar at the top of my screen containing file,
edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools and help was missing and I don't know
how to get it back.

While I'm asking, I'd like to remove the toolbar containing the Favorites
"star", print, page, tools, etc. icons.

Any help appreciated.

Press F11.

What happens when you press ALT?

Re: Newby missing navigation toolbar

Thanks for the replies. I tried pressing F11 and the screen alternated
between hiding the toolbar and having it reappear, still without the
navigation bar. I should mention that when I pressed F11 repeatedly I saw
the nav. bar faintly in the background and then it disappeared again.

I also tried pressing the Alt button and nothing happened.

Is there anything else I can try?

Re: Newby missing navigation toolbar

I forgot to mention I'm running Internet Explorer. I believe it's version 7
but I'm not certain and I don't know how to tell. I'm running Vista that I
purchased in May; I don't know if that helps.

Re: Newby missing navigation toolbar

What you're referring to is now called the Menu bar.

Right-click on a blank area of the toolbar: Is Menu Bar checked?

=> If it's not checked, first Unlock the toolbar, then check it, then Lock
the toolbar.

=> If it is checked and Menu bar still isn't showing and pressing ALT does
NOT make it available...

RE: Newby missing navigation toolbar

SAME thing is happening to me. I'm using xp not Vista though. And I can't
even access my favourites button. My home button and my quick tabs button. I
can't even access any more than the ONE tab,...not multiple as it's supposed
to. Let me know what to do if you find out. I've tried all the things your
replies have said to do, and still nothing. GOOD LUCK!!
