Automatically moving cursor to the left

I seem to have quite a strange problem with my cursor.
The cursor in a text box (eg. URL address bar, search boxes, other text
entry boxes) sometime go crazy and starts to move leftwards!
For example, if type in a text "Hello" in a text box, I end up getting
"olleH" because the cursor is constantly moving towards left automatically.
I recently bought my Dell Dimension E520 preloaded with Vista home premium.
It mostly happens with Internet Explorer and if restart my PC it goes away
for few days.
I've checked that the left arrow key in my keyboard in not stuck in, because
I don't see this problem in any other that is open at the same time.

Whenever this starts to happen, I also noticed other 2 problems:
1. When I click on any Internet Explorer window's top bar (as if I want to
move a window) that window starts to shift leftwards automatically. It
doesn't happen with other windows, for eg. a Firefox window.
2. If I open a wide image in an explorer window and there's a horizontal
scroll bar at the bottom, the contents of that window is stuck to the left
side - even if try to scroll right it automatically moves
back to left. This also happens in Notepad and Windows Explorer - I had to
shrink the size of the window to get horizontal scroll bar at the bottom
first, and it moved left again.

Whenever I'm not using the computer I normally put it to Sleep rather
shutting it down, and have it running again quickly with a
button press. But whenever the cursor goes crazy like this (happens about
once or twice every week) I then need to restart my PC. Scans by McCaffe
Security Centre have not detected any virus or
malicious programs in the PC.

Why is this happening? This is very annoying and I'm upset to see this on my
new PC. I would appreciate anyone who can help me on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards

What does Dell Support have to say about this?

What Language support do you have installed and use?
Certain languages supposedly operate right-to-left
instead of the left-to-right that English uses
so it's possible that this could be a symptom of some support
for a right-to-left language being used inappropriately.

You mean you have to "chase" it? That may be a symptom of a malware infection.
In fact, if you hypothesise malware then your right-to-left Language problem
wouldn't even have to have a logical explanation; it would just be something
for the malware to activate and exploit for its "fun".

However, you should also test the possibility of being able to do what you
want using the keyboard instead of the mouse. E.g. if you use Alt-Space,M
can you then move a window more reliably (using either the mouse pointer or
cursor keys. One main difference is that then you do not have to invoke
a drag operation using mouse buttons.)

Tell us what all you have tried to do to scroll right and what the results were.
If you are only trying to click on the horizontal scroll bar that could leave
the keyboard focus on the left and thus more understandable for the window
focus to keep returning there. E.g. if you have an input field or a link to get
keyboard focus further right you may find that the document position could change
accordingly. Tip: pressing Shift-F6 is one way to get keyboard focus on
the bottom right when there is a link on the page there. Then if the window
is scrolled it would automatically scroll to the right. Etc.

If it is a new PC you may not be as concerned with retaining preferences, etc
as a user who upgraded from IE6 to IE7 might. In that case you could try using
IE7's RIES feature. (Ref. KB923737)
