IE7 no longer works after I get this msg

Everytime I reboot I get this popup:

MSASCui.exe - unable to locate component. This application has failed to
start because MpClient.dll was not found.

Not a clue what happened. Haven't installed anything in weeks.

IE7 starts up, but stays on the CONNECTING status.

OE does work however....

Any clues?

Thanks

Re: IE7 no longer works after I get this msg

You're asking me?...as if I have a clue?

First hit of a web search with Google tells you that MSASCui.exe is a
component of Windows Defender.

Another web search tells you where to find Defender newsgroups:

"Newsgroups for Windows Defender: Learn and share information"
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...s/default.mspx

You apparently have some issue with Windows Defender. Since we don't know
your Windows version, I'll hand you off to the separate newsgroups for
Windows Defender support and comments. See

Still keeping your Windows version secret?
Well, since you posted with WinXP, go to Control Panel | Add or Remove
Programs and uninstall Windows Defender.

Re: IE7 no longer works after I get this msg

In case anyone comes across this as well.

It was a Trojan, Zonebac.

NAV cleaned it, then I had to reinstall IE7

Pissed me off that it snuck through somehow.
