| Your login attempt to login to AfterDawn.com has failed.... Hello. I have tried to join a web forum called AfterDawn. It's URL is http://forums.afterdawn.com/ When I try to post a new thread or reply to a post, I get this error message: -------------------------------------------- Problem with cookies Your login attempt to login to AfterDawn.com has failed because we are unable to properly set the needed cookie in your browser. The cookie was set, but the value of it was not upated properly. Please check your browser and firewall settings to resolve this problem. You cannot login to AfterDawn.com (or any other site on the internet for that matter) without cookies. -------------------------------------------- Have tried multiple times. And have deleted my cookies but no joy. Also have specifically put their site in the box on Tools\Options\Privacy\Sites\Allow but also no joy. I have sent in a bug report available on their site, but getting no response other than the form letter. This is the only one of many web sites that I access each day, and this problem only on AfterDawn.com. Just trying here to see if anyone can give me a clue. Thanks. |

| Re: Your login attempt to login to AfterDawn.com has failed.... Hello John! One of the possible things is 4KB limit for cookies that exists in Internet Explorer. This is not really a bug, I've heard :) that some RFC specifies some limit for amount of cookies to be sent at once (otherwise, you'll have a big outgoing traffic consisting tolally of cookies). That is, you may have used some other services at afterdawn.com domain that set up a lot of cookies. When forums.afterdawn.com tries to set up a cookie, it just gets past 4KB and not being sent. Try to figure out the amount of cookies sent to afterdawn.com in your http request headers. If you can't (and you don't care too much), just delete all cookies for that domain. -- Best regards, Alexander Melkov "John Hanley" <jphanley@ix.netcom.com> wrote in message news:eiVLbtHCIHA.6012@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Hello. My guess is that the site is giving you a misleading message. E.g. you could get the same message if your browser was not sending a Cookie for that site or sending an obsolete Cookie for that site. Either could occur if you were using a stored Favorite to an internal page at that site, in which case you should delete the Cookie and visit the site's Home page manually. Etc. | Re: Your login attempt to login to AfterDawn.com has failed.... Mr. Aldwinckle -- Thanks for the suggestion about deleting the cookie(s) and visiting the site home page manually, etc...however, I got the same 'problem with cookies' message.
