Installing IE7 via Microsoft's "getitnow" webpage

I've noticed on this forum (PA Bear and Leonard Grey) that it is recommended
to install IE7 via Microsoft's "getitnow" webpage, rather than via Microsoft
Update. What is the reason for this recommendation...just curious?

Re: Installing IE7 via Microsoft's "getitnow" webpage

Hi John,

So you have a copy of the setup files on your computer, so you can uninstall
and re-install multiple times if you find IE6 more to your likeing.

Regards.

Re: Installing IE7 via Microsoft's "getitnow" webpage

Less chance of a horked (bad; dirty; compromised) install.

Required reading IMHO before installing IE7:

Sandi's Installation Tips <= FOLLOW THESE TIPS TO THE LETTER!

[And I strongly recommend using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow.../getitnow.mspx as the
installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.]
