| Re: Internet Explorer Script Error with IE 7 vinmike, Thanks for the feedback. I WILL so the same thing that PA Bear suggested but have unable to do it so far. I am out of town this week so perhaps next weekend. I have 2 questions for you as I plan out my call to Microsoft: 1) How long did it take to solve the problem over the phone? I figured it would take a few hours which is one reason I didnt so it last week, I never had more than 2 hours free. 2) WEre you also having problems printing from Outlook? THis was a new wrinkle to the problem, my wife just informed me that in addition to all the problems with IE7, she couldn't print emails from Outlook Express. Now that indicates a larger problem than just IE. I also did bump up an online support incident to Microsoft. THey sent me an auto email on 10/4 that said they would get in contact with me within 1 business day but they never did. | Re: Internet Explorer Script Error with IE 7 Bill, From the very first day the problem occurred to me, i couldn't print from Microsoft Office Oulook, so I think we're talking of one and the same problem. I'm from the Netherlands and I've posted my problem in a Dutch Microsoft Community. I got a phone number in the Netherlands and I have to pay appr. $100 for they even consider to look at my problem. So I hope someone here can give me a solution. "Bill C." wrote: > vinmike, > Thanks for the feedback. I WILL so the same thing that PA Bear suggested > but have unable to do it so far. Can you print from IE? -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Don't expect an answer to email. |

| Re: Internet Explorer Script Error with IE 7 Hi Frank: IE version 7 (problems go away if I return to IE6) Office 2003 WIndows XP Service Pack 2 I cannot print from IE when logged in to the problem accounts. I can print from IE or Office when I am logged into my one 'good' account. Printer is an HP Laserjet, I think its 8200. See this thread for all the details, I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE7 many times, I have gone off on a tangent of wondering why the Windows Genuine validation fails on my 'problem accounts'. A very similar problem was solved by another person by calling into the Microsoft site and having them take over his machine and tweak some corrupted registry values. I intend to pursue that avenue with Microsoft also as soon as I get back into town. | Re: Internet Explorer Script Error with IE 7 Frank, As indicated earlier in this thread, this problem only occurs if you are logged into 2 of the accounts on the machine. Many web pages are unable to be displayed properly in IE7 and no printing will work, it always results in the IE Script error. As I added this week, the printing problems also occur if printing from Outlook. EVERYTHING is fine if you log into the one good account. The printing problems really have nothing to do with any particular printer, IE or Outlook can't print to any printer. I do have multiple printers on my home network and it can't print to any of them. It does not appear to be a printer problem. | Re: Internet Explorer Script Error with IE 7 Bill, Yesterday, I found the following thread on the internet: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sho...45429&SiteID=1 It shows that our problem is known since the beginning of 2007 and appaerently well known by Microsoft. (?????) There are a few suggestions made that we're very helpfull for some people. (Look at the end of the thread) I don't have the time to try it before the weekend, maybe you have, and have the "guts" to try it out. (I will in the weekend). | Re: Internet Explorer Script Error with IE 7 THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I went to this site and saw numerous people having the EXACT same problems as me. IE script errors with IE7. Unable to view many web pages. UNable to print from IE or Outlook. Some accounts have no problems, some have all these problems. Everything is OK if you uninstall IE7 and go back to IE6. ANyway, I rode the link to the Adobe site which was a tech note for people unable to install the Adobe Flash player. They said the install "may fail to install if there are incorrect permissions in the registry or if there are missing ACLs for the Administrators grup or for the built-in System account". SO they pointed to a Microsoft tool called "SubInACL". It seems to have fixed some permissions throughout the registry. It went entirely through several hives in the registry, actually 2 times. Took about an hour to run. As far as I can tell all my problems are solved. IE7 works fine. I did not uninstall IE7 before running the SubInACL tool. I can print from Outlook. I'm guessing that for the others who had this problem fixed by Microsoft, that this is the tool they ran to fix it. Anyway, thanks to everyone who responsed to my posts and contributed ideas towards a solution.
