IE7 Won't Remember Password

I was at a login page and ie7 asked me if it should remember the password,
and I clicked "no" by mistake, so now I have to type in my username and
password every time. How do I reverse this, so that it will ask me again if I
want it to remember my password, so I can click "yes"?

Thanks,
Shane.

Re: IE7 Won't Remember Password

Hi,
Download, install and run IE PassView from
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/interne..._password.html If there's a
listing for the site in question (even a blank password) delete that entry.
Delete any cookies from that site or clear all cookies. Restart and try the
site. Did the prompt return?

If the previous procedure didn't work (it often doesn't) use IE Passview to
recover all other login data (copy and paste into a text file.) Go to
Internet Options> Content> AutoComplete and clear all stored passwords. This
should reset the prompt for the affected site.

Hope this helps,
Don

Re: IE7 Won't Remember Password

Don,

I downloaded IE PassView, but I couldn't find a listing for the site that
I'm trying to fix. Using IE PassView I deleted a lot of junk, and I tried
logging into the site again, but it still didn't ask me to save the password.
I'm hoping I don't have to clear ALL of the saved passwords, because I have
about 70 passwords saved.

Shane.

Don,

I've been playing with IE PassView, and I've fixed the problem.

Thanks,
Shane.

Re: IE7 Won't Remember Password

How did you fix your issue, then? I've got an identical problem but even
"playing" with that software didn't give any result.
By the way I find totally unacceptable that a third party software is
required to fix such a stupid problem that comes with Explorer, as other well
known browsers do not ask anyone to delete all the passwords stored to add
one that wasn't entered by mistake.
Thank you.

I (eventually) found the username/password pair and deleted it, I think. It
was a long time ago.

Microsoft used to have a Password List Editor, which was included in the
Windows 95 Resource Kit, but I don't think they distribute the Password List
Editor anymore, which means we have to rely on third-party tools.

Shane.
