IE7 design fault

This is not a bug, seems a poor design issue to me. When I wish to save a web
page, the "archive, single file" option (default) may take a long time for it
save the page. In the meantime, you CANNOT use the other tabs that are open!
You have to wait until the web page is saved! You can open another IE
instance and continue browsing for other things but still this is a waste of
time if you're in a rush and are locked out of the open tabs you wish to
access or work on.

Saving a web page in html form is usually quick, but you lose out on the
images and hyperlinks. So you have to use the single page option which is
*sometimes* relatively quick (a few seconds) other times it can take a long
time (over a minute) or even freeze indefinitely. This flaw was carried on
from IE6 and IE5 and no one thought it worthy enough to do anything about.
Pls dont leave it unfixed in IE8.

Thank you.

Funny, I've never had that experience. You don't suppose it might be a
server side issue? How about posting a link that allegedly has that problem.

I'm pretty sure this was the one that got me riled up to start this thread.
It basically froze when I tried saving it as a single page.

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/graw2/review.html

But when I re-tried it, it didnt seem as bad. Another one:

The behaviour is inconsistent, but seems to affect mostly pages with heavy
content.

Thanks,

Re: IE7 design fault

I experienced no significant delay saving those two pages as .mht with
either IE6 or IE7. You would naturally expect a page with more content
and more complex content to take longer to be compiled as an .mht. Then
again, my notion of a "significant delay" may be quite different from yours.

To reduce the delay somewhat, try running as few programs in the
background as possible while saving.

May I also suggest a fruity Cabernet to help you pass the time while the
page is being saved? If it's a good vintage you may not care how long a
silly old web page takes to save. ;-)
