Windows Vista Home and Internet Explorer opening multiple windows/

I have a new Gateway computer, and can't log into some websites. As I enter
a password, to click login, multiple window begin to open as well as multiple
tabs all with the same login page I was working in. Does anyone know of a
fix for this? This is very annoying!!!

I was going to try to uninstall IE Explorer then reinstall it, however, the
site recoginzes I have it installed, and doesn't offer it for downloading.

I tried going to reinstall it through the Control panel, but it isn't an
option when adding or removing windows components.

Any thoughts?

Re: Windows Vista Home and Internet Explorer opening multiple windows/

Hi,
You may have an incompatible browser add-on (especially considering the
unnecessary programs loaded on OEM machines.)
See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
for troubleshooting information.

The troublesome program may not show up as an add-on. Disable other
security, privacy, ad-blocking, appearance tweaking programs to see if one
of them is causing the problem. Any program that interacts with Internet
Explorer could be causing this. The connection with IE may not be obvious,
such as Google Desktop or WindowBlinds.

A firewall will probably not be causing this problem, but be sure to turn on
the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall before disabling a
third-party firewall or security suite during testing.

Hope this helps,
Don

Re: Windows Vista Home and Internet Explorer opening multiple wind

Thanks for the suggestions.

I have to admit, I actually found a fix for my issue, and it was much
simplier than I had thought. In the Internet Options window, in the advanced
tab is a reset internet explorer button that will remove all plugins that
have been added. It resets IE back to its default setting. You need to read
the warning though, because it does set the entire browser back to its
original state, including resetting the default home page. This did fix the
issue. I'm not sure what caused this, it started after updating one of the
windows recommended updates, and restoring back from my earlier restore point
didn't even fix this.

Lesson learned after days of not being able to use IE!

Thans again!
