can access only secure sites

I can access only secure sites with ie7 (https) and am unable to solve this
problem. I didn't change any settings myself. The problem started when I
had ie7 running at the same time as a vpn connection. I have to use netscape
to access this discussion group. I would be very grateful if anyone could
help.

Philip.

Re: can access only secure sites

Windows version?

=> Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

1. Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons;

2. Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer
(No add-ons).

=> Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?

Re: can access only secure sites

Thanks for your promt response. The problem persists if IE7 is started in
No Add-ons mode and resetting the settings does not help. The program is
running under windows XP Profesional version 2002, service pack 2.

Best wishes,

Philip.

Are you using a Download manager? Try removing it.

Re: can access only secure sites

Thanks to all who replied. The problem persists when I turn the firewall on
my pc off and delete the Adobe download manager. I emphasise that the problem
appeared when I went through the firewall of the place where I work when I
established a VPN connection. The problem remained when I disconnected the
VPN client. Somehow the settings pertaining to IE7 changed when I
established the VPN connection and these settings still remain. The support
group where I work are unable to be of assistance in this matter. All the
PCs at work running windows use IE6 as their internet browser.
