There is no default icon for IE7 put on your desktop.

Start> Programs> IE7> Right-click> Send To> shortcut on desktop.

One of my Vista machines has it, one doesn't. I don't know why.

If you'll right click the one on the Start menu, you'll see that although
you can't do what Mick said, you can get Internet Properties that way.

I don't use Vista yet but I use the IE7 icon down in the Quick Launch
taskbar that opens IE7 immediatly to my home page of Google.

Right click on the Taskbar then go to Properties then insure that Show Quick
Launch is selected.

Re: Default IE7 icon on desktop in vista

This is the same 'fix' as listed in the MS Knowledge base -- Article ID :
555849 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555849)
The registry entry DWord value is already set at 0. This 'fix' does NOT
restore the IE7 icon to the desktop. A SHORTCUT icon for IE7 does not have
the same functionality as does the ORIGINAL IE7 icon -- i.e. you cannot right
click the icon to pull up IE7 Properties. You can right-click the IE7 icon
in the Start menu to get properties.
I've no idea why MS decided to omit the IE7 icon from the Desktop, or worse,
NOT give you the option to have it there if you want it! Stupid.
I've been scouring the Knowledge Base and other sites for a remedy, but
unsuccessfully. A 'fix' that works would be most helpful for all of us!
