** Links don't work on some webpages!! **

Some links won't work on certain webpages.

I took the liberty of putting the screenshot on flypicture.com, with notes
in red to explain what happens (I hope this works!).

cant sign in.jpg
drop down menu2.jpg
link doesnt work.jpg
vista link doesnt work.jpg

I have Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 7 and, if relevant, Java plug-in
1.6.0_02 Java HotSpot client VM.

I hope you guys can make something of this. Please tell me how to fix it!
(Please?)

Hi M,

Your links to flypicture.com do not work.

What web pages, what links?

Regards.

please copy and paste the URLs as the '=' is missing when you just click on
the link

Re: ** Links don't work on some webpages!! **

Hi,

Do you have Active Scripting enabled in the Internet Zone?

Tools||Internet Options...||Secruity(tab)||Internet(Zone)||Custom
level...||Scripting

Make sure there is a checkmark in the box next to "Active Scripting".

If that box is already checkmarked, make sure you don't have some third
party security program with a function for blocking scripting set to on.

Good luck,

Donald Anadell

Re: ** Links don't work on some webpages!! **

Sorry, don't have anything else to offer you.

I went to each site listed in your screenshots and didn't have any problems
with the links in IE7 on Vista. The only thing I noticed at a quick glance
this afternoon at the related sites was that they had some inline Javascript
used in conjuction with the OnClick events. That's why I suggested you make
sure that "Active Scripting" is enabled in the Broswer.

If you have Active Scripting enable, and you are certain that you don't have
a third party secrurity Application set to block scripting, then I'm afraid
I'm out of ideas....sorry.

Good luck,

Donald Anadell

=> Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode? To start
IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

1. Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons;

2. Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer
(No add-ons).

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:

=> Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?

=> What Norton application are you using?

Re: ** Links don't work on some webpages!! **

Yes, it persists if I start IE in no add-ons mode and when I reset IE 7
settings. I'm using Symantec Antivirus 10.0.2.2000.

I don't know if this is related but I also just discovered I can't log-in to
my hotmail account, because when I click on "sign in" I get a blank screen,
and the bottom left of the window says "done".

Contact Symantec Service & Support

[IMHO, no Symantec application plays nice with Vista.]

disabling the symantec application didn't help, though. You think it's still
the cause?
