| Red X problem on websites Hi, I checked the group for this problem but didn't find a thread for it, but if it has been dealt with (and it probably has ..), then I'm sorry but I haven't found it. I'm running IE7/ Windows XP Home Edition/ all Microsoft updates in place. My problem is I'm seeing Red x's on websites instead of images. I have Show Pictures checked in IE7, and all Temporary Internet Files have been deleted (I do this daily). My Firewall has been checked and doesn't seem to be causing the problem. Can someone help please? Many thanks. Anne |

| Re: Red X problem on websites This has been discussed numerous times before, but perhaps not in this NG. It can be caused by various things, most likely a pop-up blocker. Disable your pop-up blocker and see if that works. Otherwise, one of the experts here can give you some links. | MVP Please Help This is all ancient and irrelevant stuff.. I have the same issue, people know about it, but there is very little resolution other than throwing down whatever KB articles are out there on IE5-6 and some registry hacks that are pretty old.. Annie, if you right click on the explorer icon and do "run as administrator" and then go to your site, do the pictures appear? If they do you are EXACTLY at the point I am at, which is a dead end.. People of alluded to the fact that the bug exists and we 'hope" microsoft will take care of it, but there isn't even a kb article yet acknowledging there is an issue. It was supposed to be fixed in 6 but evidently not. MVP Please help. | Re: Red X problem on websites Hello again, I have no other problems whatsoever, just the red x's. I have no web accelerator installed and I'm using Windows Firewall at the moment. Search is working as it should. I've read the web page you directed me too since sending the error message. I reinstalled Windows just over a week ago, from scratch, but the problem was with me before that too, and a sys restore isn't going to help me solve this. I haven't touched the Registry. I run Xoftspy 2ce a week as well as a couple of other spyware utilities. AVG runs daily - I don't have it scanning emails.
