| A new version of IE Posted on VersionTracker I just saw this on versiontracker and I was curious if it's legit. It's Microsoft Internet Explorer - 7.00.6000.16512 and to install it one just uses the installer if I remember correctly. It would remove the old version and install the current version. Also, would installing this version have any effect on the cumulative security update issued on patch tuesday this week? Thanks! hselburn |

| Re: A new version of IE Posted on VersionTracker Go to Program Files/Internet Explorer and look at the build number of ieexplore.exe. It should already be 7.00.6000.16512 "hselburn" <hselburn@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:37E58D46-6442-41C9-9F57-403C9AF1BCC6@microsoft.com... >I just saw this on versiontracker and I was curious if it's legit. Sometimes different builds of the same product are used on different Windows platforms. Use the Windows Update site to determine if you have the latest version for your platform. |

[If you're running IE7 in > WinXP and the machine's fully patched, it should be > v7.00.6000.16512.] I just went to the Windows Update site and it had no further updates for my host. I am running Windows XP Pro SP-2. IE is at version 7.0.5730.11. So, as far as I can tell using Microsoft's own AX control to query my system, that is the latest version of IE for WinXP Pro SP-2. Are you actually using WinXP Pro SP-2, or maybe WinXP 64, MediaCenter, or Vista? |

| Re: A new version of IE Posted on VersionTracker I just checked the file version of iexplore.exe and it is current, although what is interesting, is that if one checks about internet explorer in the help menu of ie7, it shows a different version number. One is the file version, like 7.0.6000.16512 for iexplore.exe. The one you see in Help -> About is the *program* version (the files for which can be at various differing versions). So it depends on whether the file or program version is being reported. |

I believe this version is Vista only. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=164539 It appears the latest XP version is 7.00.5730.1100. |
