| New Window opening instead of a tab Vista and IE7 - Often when using Ctrl + click or middle click on a link on the current page I am browsing, a new window opens instead of a new tab. In fact, if I open a blank tab and type and manually type an address in the address bar, it jumps to a new window. Can someone explain this behavior and how I can have these links open in tabs instead of new windows? -- Thanks! Widdney |

| Re: New Window opening instead of a tab HI Widdney, When holding the mouse over the link on the web page, have a look at the status bar to the address that the link is set to. Some links or buttons use javascript to open a new blank window to load the address into. On your Tabbed Browser settings there is an option to "Always open pop-ups in a new tab" Regards. | Re: New Window opening instead of a tab Hello Rob, Thank you for your response. To follow up, I have two PC's one on Vista, and the other running XP SP2. Both have IE7 with identical settings. If I duplicate the same scenario on both, I get different results. The XP PC will always open a link in a new tab with CTRL + click or middle mouse click. The Vista PC will open a new window. It appears to be domain related. For example, I have a window open at www.yahoo.com. If I click a link from that page (they all lead to Yahoo domain pages) they will open in a tab in the same window. If I then open a new blank tab and type www.google.com, it leaves that tab blank and opens a new window. I can only guess it's some kind of security setting, but I can't figure what it is. -- Thanks! | Re: New Window opening instead of a tab Hi Widdney, There is also an Addon called IEtab that has an option to "Open new Tab from address bar" Sounds like you may have this Addon installed/enabled on some machines. This would explain the differing behaviour. Regards. | Re: New Window opening instead of a tab Hi Rob, Widdney, I have precisely the same issue as Widdney. That is sometimes windows open in IE7 under Vista whereas a tab opened under XP SP2. I do not have an IEtab addon and am uncertain if I had it under XP. My copy of XP is now deceased. Are you suggesting I load the IEtab addon under Vista. I cannot find it in in any download areas. Is this known to fix this issue? | RE: New Window opening instead of a tab I dealing with this. What I found out was that Vista IE 7 will open a new window for each of the zone types. What I haven't found out is a work round. -- drobie WI "Widdney" wrote: > Vista and IE7 - Often when using Ctrl + click or middle click on a link on > the current page I am browsing, a new window opens instead of a new tab.
