| Mail sends without using send button While typing a message to be sent.......it will all of a sudden send. I know that if you use the Alt plus S key the message will send but I am not using the Alt key or the S key at the same time. It doesn't seem to be any particular key that sets off the send process. I suspected that it would be a defective key board (laptop) so I replaced it. It still has the same problem. I tried to reinstall oe 6 but it said that I had a newer version so it wouldn't install. I then downloaded and installed oe7. I have also used every Antivirus and antispy program that I have with no luck. As soon as I start typing it will sooner or later send the message. Any idea what is causing this annoying problem? Thanks MJ |

Is this about Outlook Express? > It doesn't seem to be any particular key that sets off the send process. > I suspected that it would be a defective key board (laptop) so I replaced it. > It still has the same problem. Well, Ctrl-Enter has the same effect and sometimes a modifier key such as a Ctrl- key can stick allowing the same effect as a Ctrl- key plus another key to occur even without the Ctrl- key apparently being held--in which case it is conceivable that occasionally simply pressing Enter could appear to cause a message being edited to be sent. Similarly if you had been using an Alt- key and it stuck simply pressing S would then be enough to cause the Alt-S effect. Either example, as well as accidental use of the Send button (BTDT) would provide a good argument for always keeping Work Offline set while you are composing. ; ) > I tried to reinstall oe 6 but it said that I had a newer version so it wouldn't install. > I then downloaded and installed oe7. Really? Where did you get that? ; } > I have also used every Antivirus and antispy program that I have with no luck. > As soon as I start typing it will sooner or later send the message. > Any idea what is causing this annoying problem? Are you editing a message in the Outbox? Unfortunately unless you disable the timed send feature set or at least set Work Ofline before doing that OE will send the message even when you're still editing it becaue it is still sitting in the Outbox. Also, I have found it a good idea not even to immediately send a message which is being edited from the Outbox because of that fact. E.g. if the actual send occurred before the copy in the Outbox was replaced you could accidentally send both versions. That would occur regardless of whether the timed send feature was in effect and only be dependent on the implementation of the Send function. Better therefore to do the send while still offline, thus ensuring that the Outbox contains only one copy of the message to be sent; then use the Send All command, (e.g. press Alt-T,S,S).
