IE7 Encounters Error Shuts down on BofA Site Error 1000 and 1001

This is a strange one. After a fresh install of XP PRO SP2 an IE7 on some
Dell GX270 systems three months ago, the systems have sparadic success
accessing a Bank of America online banking site. The systems are fully
patched. The site displays, but when attemping to log in, 7 of 10 times, IE
shuts down. BofA origionally admitted to this being an erro with their site
not being compatable. Now they claim it aint them.... Some times it displays
and error about encountering an error, sometimes it just closes. I have
reset to factory, emptied all cookies, tmp etc several times.

The systems are running Trend CSM up to date Virus and maleware scannered
clean.

Hold on it gets stranger.

There are 4 identical Dell GX270 systems, they all experince the same problem.
I tried it on 4 other model Dells at the same location, none have th
problem. All loaded with the same XP SP2 VL disk.

Thinking it was an IE 7 incompatability issue, I uninstalled IE7. Same
problem.

The application log gets two or more entries each time:
Source; Application Error
Category: none
Event ID 1000 or 1001
ID 1000 reports: Faulting applicaiton iesplore.exe, version 7.060000.16473,
faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180 and a faulting address.
ID 1001 Fault bucket 127312960 varies.

Now I'm thinking chipset or NIC drivers. Then I downloaded Netscape on the
system and it works everytime.

Going to try another go at a fresh install next week.

Anybody got any ideas first?

Do you have Google Toolbar? Uninstall it.

Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Tab
Scroll down and uncheck Enable third-party browser extensions
Click Ok

Are you using Sonic MyDVD Studio Deluxe Suite? Disable it in manage add-ons
filename: tfswshx.dll

Re: IE7 Encounters Error Shuts down on BofA Site Error 1000 and 1001

Chance,
What a great way to provide customer support. I know that you said that you
don't support IE7 internally, but shouldn't you find out why so that you can
help your customers.

Now I understand why, when I tried to set up my mother-in-law's Quicken
account on my Windows XP system, that there is always trouble at log in. I
finally make it! All of the stupid meaningless messages from B of A Web site
will eventually let me on.

I like the B of A attitude! There are a lot of other banks that do support
IE7 including mine. FYI, the stats for our computer club's web site shows
IE6 with only 7.0% of the browsers.

Re: IE7 Encounters Error Shuts down on BofA Site Error 1000 and 10

A great way for B of A customers to get customer support from tech
workers??? unfortunately we don't support the customer, however we should
with some people, like yourself, I mean you do have an account and $$ in the
bank, however you would definatly be surprised how many B of A employees
really don't know what the Start Menu Button is, (im not lying)

Here is what I know based on my work

Most Desktop machines are HP/Compaq Driven, however Laptops Dell 610/620
or the new Lenovo (which I must say is a headache and a half for new
technology)

BP (Banking Person's) are using IE 6, WIN xp Sp2 or on Win2000 OS, and
also, BP's dont use Bankofamerica.com as their main page, they have
something internally called ""Flagscape"" which is their main page, which
goes to everywhere on the domain for the worker's, ofcourse that's goign
throug the proxy

I wonder if letting any of this out will get me fired.... ahhh well if so,
who ever is looking, here's my id NBKK7NB

Personally I am not directly on the bank network I connect through VPN, and
happen to use Firefox (which is also a totally non supported application)
however I complain to the people higher up, who complain to me, stating that
having a multi tabbed browser is a good function when your looking up
articles to support BP aswell as checking out sites, reseting certain
password's etc....

best of luck, I will talk to our Higher up Support, though it will most
likely be ""Smoke / Coffee" break conversation, as liek I said before we
unfortunatly do not support Customer's

also on a quicknote, they all use Norton SAV for Virus Software,
maybe it might be software problem with your virus scanner, no clue, but
really wish I can get this solved with you
