Wrong application opens file

If I try to open a certain file within IE it opens it up with the wrong
apllication. I know that wihtin Windows you can easily change this at the
file level, but how do I do this within IE?

Windows version?
IE version?
What application do you expect it to open in?
What application does it open in?
What is the file extension (the letters after the dot)?

Re: Wrong application opens file

The file that gives the error is a *.tif file. It opens with Quicktime.

The *.tif file is generated by my fax machine within the network. If the
fax contains more then 1 page I can only see the first.

IE version is 7

regards

Re: Wrong application opens file

I'll bet when QuickTime was installed it set itself as the defaullt for TIF
files, thinking of TIFF images. Save one of the riles, Shift-right click
it, choose your FAX program, and make sure "Always use this program" is
checked.
