| security hole in IE& that you can drive a bus through I have just started using IE7 on Vista and I am wondering if I should downgrade it. For as long as I can remember and I have been using IEx, if oen sets security to the highest with no exceptions in trusted sites, one will not be able to browse the web. Well, that is how I have got set up in 'Internet Options-Security-Internet/local intranet/trusted sites/restricted sites AND I can browse as if the security settings were at it's lowest. Has anything changed in Vista. If so, what and how?? |

No, that's not correct and always has been. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Blue Arrow wrote: > I have just started using IE7 on Vista and I am wondering if I should > downgrade it. | Re: security hole in IE& that you can drive a bus through Well, I never! In the last, God knows how many years I have never been able to browse the web with security setting at High. I always got the message,'Content from the website listed below is being blocked by the Intenet Explorer enhanced security configuration.' Honest to God that is what I have always found. And that is what I got this time as well. Then the website came on to a fashion and since then everything has been coming trough fine. If this is the case then, pardon my ignorance, why have these settings!! | Re: security hole in IE& that you can drive a bus through The security settings are there to improve the security of your browsing experience (hopefully), not to prevent your ability to browse. What good is a browser that can't browse? Setting very restrictive security settings can prevent you from reaching a particular web page or part thereof, but that's because the web page contains an element you have shutoff (meta-refresh, for example), not because you've prevented the browser from working. --- Leonard Grey Errare humanum est Blue Arrow wrote: > Well, I never! | Re: security hole in IE& that you can drive a bus through When using High Security Settings: Setting the level to High may cause some Web sites to work incorrectly. If you have difficulty using a Web site after you change this setting and you are sure the site is safe to use, you can add that site to your list of trusted sites. This will allow the site to work correctly even with the High security setting. http://www.microsoft.com/protect/com.../browsing.mspx As for running it at High Settings, are you using the Run As Administrator option when you do launch IE, BlueArrow? -- Gistcheckin "Blue Arrow" wrote: > Well, I never!
