Internet Explorer cannot display web page

I have a web page that receives variables from another web page, but when I
run this in internet explorer the response page doesn't appear. It shows
internet explorer cannot display this webpage. If I run the application in
Mozilla or in Opera everything works.
The variable are sent in the html form with the post method. Does internet
explorer restricts the size of the variables send through the URL?
This is happening in IE 6 and 7
