Network refuses to stay connected

I just bought a laptop for school that has Windows Vista, and uses McAffe. I
was able to connect to the internet through a modem we use with our XP
desktop, (wirelessley) but every couple minutes it throws me offline and I
have to reconnect. I think there is a setting somehwere maybe in the firewall
or even in network options but I cant find anything that is fixing the
problem. I've let Vista try to diagnose the problem, and all the suggestions
dont seem to be the problem. Can someone help me identify and fix this
problem?

Thanks

Re: Network refuses to stay connected

I'm having the exact same problem and I don't have MacAfee. I reboot and it
connects for about 2 minutes then disconnects. Very frustrating.

Turn the Windows Firewall back on.

1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

3. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Please be more precise when providing a symptom description.
What exactly are you seeing?

What do you have to do?

It's not really an IE issue. You may get better assistance from your ISP
or a Vista newsgroup. Cross-posting for convenience.
