FYI - Constant Freezes after SBC Support Tool update Several days ago, SBC Support Tool interface opened with and update. I updated as soon as I was aware of it and have experienced constant System Freezes since. Performing routine tasks such as launching an IE window to view emails or view responses has become quite a chore. Opening applications such as Windows OneCare links or TaskManager result in System Freeze periodically. The good news, Start Without Add-ons works. I only experience the freeze situation when launching IE with add-ons enabled. There are two add-ons listed in Downloaded Programs Folder: Jave Runtime Environment 1.6.0 and the other is for http://w4s2.work4sure.com/c/ge/w4sgeen9.exe v. 0.0.0.1. Neither appear damaged. -- Gistcheckin

RE: FYI - Constant Freezes after SBC Support Tool update In addition to the above: I just reopened SBC Support Tool and received the message "Finish Update" You'd think I would have seen this once the update was in progress and closed; or, at least Reboot System to finish update. -- Gistcheckin "Gistcheckin" wrote: > Several days ago, SBC Support Tool interface opened with and update. I have not even installed it on any PC that I support. -- Norman ~Shine, bright morning light, ~now in the air the spring is coming. ~Sweet, blowing wind, ~singing down the hills and valleys.

Re: FYI - Constant Freezes after SBC Support Tool update Thanks. I've rarely used the Support Tool. It appeared out of nowhere on bootup one a.m. I see update, I click ok. I see everything appear to proceed as usual. Update window soon disappears. I go about my business. SBC Self Support Tool does say AT&T but still has SBC on the icon. And, in order to connect to the internet if that is your ISP Provider, you've had to install some software features. -- Gistcheckin "N. My ISP is at&t Yahoo! HSI (formerly SBC Yahoo! DSL Service). I have never installed any ISP software; not when I signed up when sign up was offered at http://pacbell.prodigy.net/. Well, okay, once an ActiveX control when I migrated to SBC Yahoo! DSL Service; but I removed it once I had migrated all of the sub accounts, and only just the migration tool. I set up an SBC Yahoo! DSL account for a cousin without running any SBC software, and I set up an at&t Yahoo! HSI account for an aunt without running any AT&T software. All of the software that AT&T provides is Windows-centric; how do you suppose the Mac and Linux users sign up an account if running the ISP software is required? -- Norman ~Shine, bright morning light, ~now in the air the spring is coming. ~Sweet, blowing wind, ~singing down the hills and valleys.

Re: FYI - Constant Freezes after SBC Support Tool update Efficient Networks Enternet 300 does not come on the system as it did in the past. It now comes on the installation CD from SBC Yahoo. I remove all the added extras, too. -- Gistcheckin "N. Miller" wrote: > On Sun, 24 Jun 2007 15:01:03 -0700, Gistcheckin wrote: > > > I've rarely used the Support Tool. I have subsequently had to replace my old Westell WireSpeed B90-36R516 DSL modem with a later SpeedStream 4100 DSL modem. Every router I have ever set up, and the SS4100, handle the PPPoE log in. If you run Windodws XP, *tha* handles PPPoE login natively. In any case, Enternet 300 is not ISP software, any more than Mozilla Firefox is ISP software. It was made by Efficient Networks (which is now Siemens) for PPPoE login. And it isn't even the best DSL connection manager... -- Norman ~Shine, bright morning light, ~now in the air the spring is coming. ~Sweet, blowing wind, ~singing down the hills and valleys.

| Re: FYI - Constant Freezes after SBC Support Tool update Thank you, I am aware of this and the new SBC/Yahoo! offers. Gistcheckin "N.
