| Keyboard delay Since I got my new Vaio with Vista/IE7 I have dropped characters when I type of a form on the internet. It only does it when I am in IE7. Appears in no other programs. As I type it just intermittently drops characters. I have to type long text in Word then cut/paste. I have tried the “no add-on” option in IE, but it did nothing. I have adjusted the keyboard delay/repeat, no effect. Have scanned for viruses, spyware, etc. Nothing. I have to resolve this and truly don’t know how. I have seen other people with this issue in the newsgroups, but no one has come forward with a solution. Please help. |

| Re: Keyboard delay Hi, The troublesome program may not show up as an add-on. Disable other security, privacy, ad-blocking, tweaking programs to see if one of them is causing the problem. Any program that interacts with Internet Explorer could be causing this. The connection with IE may not be obvious, such as Google Desktop. Try Ctrl-Alt-Delete> Task manager, look at applications and processes- look at the notification area (used to be the systray.) What's running? http://www.liutilities.com/products/...rocesslibrary/ is a good site for researching processes, or just lookup unknown processes on Google or another search engine. A firewall will probably not be causing this problem, but be sure to turn on the Windows Firewall from Control Panel> Windows Firewall before disabling a third-party firewall or security suite during testing. Hope this helps, Don [MS MVP- IE] "Scott" <Scott@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2FC7F392-E683-4766-A335-9616AB04E4E8@microsoft.com... > Since I got my new Vaio with Vista/IE7 I have dropped characters when I type > of a form on the internet. | Re: Keyboard delay Well okay. There are 96 processes running so this will take some time. When I start typing the Wndows Sidebar, Windows Task Manager and Desktop Window Manager are the ones that pop to the top. I will take a look at the site you suggested. Or, throw my PC of the balcony...Thanks for your help. Gees, I am going to wear out my backspace key. I bet I have used it 50 times in typing this response. | Re: Keyboard delay Hi, I would be looking first at third-party (non-microsoft) programs. How many sites do you have in the Restricted sites list? In any case see if opening the Security Settings dialog and closing it again changes your symptom at all. (E.g. doubleclick on the security zone icon in the Status bar and then press Esc.) Do you have a similar problem in Outlook? http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?p=151711#151711 <boggle> every character typed in an HTML email - with the above four criteria - potentially will check <span style="font-weight: bold">thousands</span> of Registry entries (in the Restricted Zone) <span style="font-weight: bold"> for every character that is typed.</span> (SpyBot, for example, currently adds about 3,000 items to the Restricted Zone if Immunization is turned on. Other programs may add even more.) </boggle> Good luck Robert Aldwinckle --- |

| Re: Keyboard delay Has anyone found a solution for this, I have a few clients that are having the same issue. Most of my clients work fine but a few of them have this happen to them quiet often. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! |
