| Internet explorer 7 not starting using short cut or desktop icon running win xphome IE7 Had Norton Internet security 2007 on but have removed because I thought this was part of the problem The error I recieve when clicking icon: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address. What you can try: Diagnose Connection Problems More information When I try and diagnose if I close the opened page my connection is made...once i click the home page I am online and running....if I close and try to re-open using the shorcut on task bar or icon on desktop it doesn't connect.... I have scanned for malware, spyware, and Hijack issues,,,,have reinstalled windows , uninstalled and reinstalled IE7 (by the way IE6 acts exactly the same once Ie 7 is uninstalled) prior reinstall I cleared out all temp files in windows as well as clearing all internet temp files. all cookies deleted, and reset all options in internet options to default. I am at a loss....if I try and use an online game that uses IE to access internet it doesn't work. I am able to access internet when clicking some links in e-mails....and once I am online...everything funcytions as if nothing is wrong....as soon as i close that window..back to same problem... any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian |
