| IE 7 not getting online follow-up Okay, this problem is a bit unusual so please bear with me. We are running Windows XP SP2 on all machines. All OS's have the latest updates and patches. A couple of weeks ago, some people could not get onto the web via IE 7. The address at the bottom kept showing the loopback of 127.0.0.1. I first went to the hosts file to see if anything changed but it was the same as always. I next tried logging in as someone else on said machine and I could surf the net without any problems. I then wiped the profile of the person who couldn't surf the net. That person then logged in and got a new profile and now they can surf the net for a period of time before the problem repeats. Also, when the browser is looping back on itself, I did a ping test to a remote site and the ping test went through without any problems so the problem seems to be centered somewhere in IE 7. I don't want to wipe profiles every time someone can't surf the net because the browser is using the loopback as its address. Has anyone else run into this problem or am I just unique for it? BTW, the Event Logs don't show anything unusual going on. ADDED: In addition to the above, have also run several spyware and anti-virus programs. All of these showed a negative in regard to spyware or viruses. I also deleted only the IE entries from a person's profile figuring that would help but it didn't. Installed Firefox on the affected systems and Firefox was able to browse the web on the computers that IE7 kept looping back on itself which makes it seem like IE7 has a problem. This problem also seems to be occurring with IE 6 SP2 also. Already tried resetting the winsock on the affected computers with negative results. Any other ideas in this would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully this is enough information to get you all started on, Thanks in advance, Kevin Butler |
