| send a link by e-mail / send a page by e-mail - no response First I could not set outlook express as my default email client, so I ran "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg Then I notice that I get no response to attempting to send a link or page by clicking send a link or send a page on the drop down menu from 'page' on the internet explorer page. I do not know whether this preceded running "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg. I have OE6 and IE7. I have managed to regain the send a link function as a right click option by running fix no. 60 at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm. Any ideas, please for getting back the normal function for sending links and pages on the drop down menu from 'page' on the internet explorer page? |

| RE: send a link by e-mail / send a page by e-mail - no response Thanks for this. Adding the file path for msoe.dll to the registry in pursuance of the advice on http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098 did the trick. I did not run "drive:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe" /reg, as I had already run "C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg with apparent success, but note with interest the difference and wonder whether it has any significance. I was unable to follow the advice in http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx. All I could tell was that 'URL' file extensions were to be opened by internet explorer, and I was not able to create a new type with the description being "URL:MailTo Protocol", or to find any 'values' such as "C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /mailurl:%1. I wonder why, unless it is a consequence of my version of windows, which is xp pro, and I am using IE7. Somehow, adding the file path for msoe.dll seems to have fixed another problem that I have had for a long time prior to losing the ability to send a link or page by email. 'Run' had disappeared from the start menu, and 'run command' was not shown in the list of start menu items under properties, customize, advanced. The run command did appear in the classic start menu, but when I endeavoured to actuate it I got an error message to the effect that acces was denied me and I should refer to the sytem administrator. This was puzzling, as I log on as a system administrator. However, a functioning 'run' has returned to both start and classic start menus, which is a mystery since I see no reason why adding the file path of msoe.dll should be relevant, and in any case the problem with 'run' preceded that with sending links/pages by email. If you can shed any further light, I should be most interested, but in any case, thanks again - problem solved.
