| some web pages fail to load Hello, I have a new computer running Vista Home Premium/IE7 that is not able to load certain web sites. I posted about this earlier, and someone suggested that it might be a virus, but the Norton system scan I ran detected nothing, and the behavior ix unchanged. I am reposting, per this advice. I can connect normally to many sites--Google, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Amazon--but I cannot connect to many others. The hint at the bottom of the web page changes to "Web site found, waiting for response...", and there it stays forever. The sites include www.microsoft.com (and sub-pages) and www.msn.com, so I am tempted to say the sites affected are Microsoft sites, but I can't imagine why that would be the case. Because only certain sites are affected, I am guessing that there is some default setup or configuration for IE7 or Vista that is causing this. Both Vista and IE7 are new to me with this system. I am using the same ISP connection to send this email, connected to a different computer running XP Pro SP4 and IE6. As far as I am aware, the connection is configured identically on both systems. Because of this, I don't believe it is an ISP issue. The behavior persists through warm and cold reboots. Any advice appreciated, Phil Coveney |

| RE: some web pages fail to load Hi Phil, I'm from Argentina. I have the WXP Proffessional SP 2 and I've just downloaded IE 7.0. Since then I can't open any page. I can only access to the microsoft.com sites. I can even access to Google, yahoo or less wilkipedia. I'm driving myself crazy. As I can see the problem it's IE 7.0 and Microsoft that is experimenting with us and our time. By the way, I've heard about people that had bought the Win Vista OS and had to change it for WXP again because it doesn't work properly. | RE: some web pages fail to load Hi Phil, I have the Wxp SP2 proffessional Edition. Some months ago I had downloaded the IE 7.0 that was offered by the Messenger system. I used it and I had no problem. A week ago, the man who repairs the pc told to uninstall IE 7.0 because "I'm not like it". So I did it. Then, yesterday I decided to install it again. First I downloaded it from Windows Update. It began to do what you have said but in a different way: I can only load the microsoft.com sites. I can't access to any other site even Google, Yahoo or Wilkipedia. It's driving me crazy. But now that I've heard what you've said, I think that IE 7.0 has big problems and that Microsoft.com should have to do something about. | Re: some web pages fail to load Hi Phil, It seems that Microsoft should get working on a fix, as my situation is identical to your's. My scenario is the basically the same with the exception of virus killer I am running McAfee. Regards Andrew |

| Re: some web pages fail to load Hmm, Phill I'm also running McAfee. I mean the man who repairs pc has installed it. I don't understand it well. It seems like work "underground or background". May be this contribute to the problem. But what it's certain is that IE 7.0 has a problem or the sites or sth because a lot o people it's going through what we are. regards. Noesis PS: If you find a solution, please let me know -- CABA Argentina "powellak@optusnet.com.au" wrote: > Hi Phil, > > It seems that Microsoft should get working on a fix, as my situation > is identical to your's. | Re: some web pages fail to load hi Andrew, where did you get that brownser?. In my case I can't get nothing from internet because I'm unable to load the pages. How did you do? regards Noemi -- CABA Argentina "powellak@optusnet.com.au" wrote: > Hello, > > Although I am still at the same point with the ie7 issue for pages > failing, I just downloaded Maxthon browser & all the sites I have been > unable to access I now can. > I will be running this one as my primary browser from now on. > > Regards > Andrew > > > |

| Re: some web pages fail to load Hi Noemi I did have access to some pages running Vista & ie7 so was able to go to www.maxthon.com & d/load the free browser. I am now able to load pages that I previously was unable to. If you can get a d/load of this exe & install the small application on your pc, may be worth a try. I am able to run both ie7 & Maxthon simultaniously however I have put ie7 off to the side as I am finding faster browsing from Maxthin browser. Regards Andrew |
