Lost IE7 Tab functions

Problem: Lost ability to use tabs in IE7, option "File -> New Tab" is greyed
out in menu

Details:
-All settings are default under Internet Options, General, Tab Settings
-No recent changes to system, just started up IE one day and realized tab
abilities were gone!!!!

System: XP Pro SP2 (all updates), IE7, everything legit (company machine)

RE: Lost IE7 Tab functions

oops.... fixed it. Forgot I had edited a registry key while I was testing
some group policy settings; set the key "ClassicShell" to 1. Changed it back
all is well!

Re: Lost IE7 Tab functions

1. Does this behavior persist if you start IE7 in No Add-ons mode?

To start IE7 in No Add-ons mode:

Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons; or

Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No
add-ons).

2. Does the problem persist if you Reset IE7 Settings (RIES)?
