| setting "view source" to specific program - NOT notepad hi all, I'm using MSIE v6.0.2900.2180.spxp_sp2_gdr.061219-0316, 128-bit cipher strength: where is the setting to set the "View Source" to a specific program. I use Textpad for my html editing, and all other text related activities.. and when I click on View/Source or use the context menu to "view source", I want it to open in Textpad. It looks to be a registry modification, but I feel it must be possible. thanks, niteowl |

| Re: setting "view source" to specific program - NOT notepad Leonard, thanks for the link, but this appears to just add the option into the HTML editor box in the MSIE Programs tab page... My "Textpad" is already showing there as the program I want to use for html editing, but when I have a webpage open, and go to View/Source, it opens the Windows Explorer to the Desktop ?? This also happens when I use the context menu to "view source". I think I just need to correct the registry key so it'll open the right program, not put in more stuff to confuse it.. ;) If I can't find any more specific info, I might try running it... but as I said the option is already there and chosen.. ? thanks, gary "Leonard Grey" <Leonard@Grey.invalid> wrote in message news:%23YQurNlkHHA.3472@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Here's an easy way, from Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP: > http://windowsxp.mvps.org/htmleditor.htm > > --- > Leonard Grey > Errare humanum est > > Niteowl wrote: >> hi all, >> >> I'm using MSIE v6.0.2900.2180.spxp_sp2_gdr.061219-0316, 128-bit cipher >> strength: >> >> where is the setting to set the "View Source" to a specific program. I did not mention that I had just recently updated the Textpad program from v4.73 to v5.03 and that seemed to be when the problem began... I had tried to uninstall the new update, but it didn't clean up after itself very well, and apparently rewrote a lot of window system stuff... so I ran the ininstall, then went into the registry to manually delete anything related to Textpad, and Helios, and then reinstalled the previous version. It did not help.. so I did a system restore back to before I installed the v5.x stuff, still had problems... so I ran a "repair" from the original executable, and now all is working perfectly again... so whatever the update changed and failed to change back after uninstalling was fixed. I will leave it alone now.. ;) but thanks to all for the suggestions.... it helped and I will keep the new info filed away. thanks again, niteowl |
