| Website can not save some files to the Temporary Internet Files fo Hello, I have a group of users who cannot access an external secured website. The website should open a logon window (which is basically an executable which is downloaded to the "Temporary Internet Files" folder). However, This website attempts to download and save files to the "temporary internet files" folder but the download fails, the error is: Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting Event ID: 5000 Type: Error Description: EventType clr20r3, P1 iexplore.exe, P2 7.0.6000.16414, P3 45a2f927, P4 system.windows.forms, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4333aefa, P7 1508, P8 12f, P9 system.io.ioexception, P10 NIL. System Information: All the workstations are Windows XP SP2 with all critical patches installed, with Internet Explorer 7 and all IE7 updated applied as well. Note: some machines successfully download and launch this website. and other websites are able to save to the temporary internet files folder, although they may not be saving an executable like the website in question above. Is there some security policy, registry setting, or group policy which disables a websites ability to save executables to the "Temporary Internet Files" folder? Any clues? Thank you in advance. HP |

| Re: Website can not save some files to the Temporary Internet Files fo Hi Hiren, Downloaded exes (ActiveX) should be downloading to the 'Downloaded Program Files' folder (see under your windows root folder), not the Temporary Internet Files folder (TIF) which is usually located either under the local or shared Documents and User Settings Folder. Guess....Check that the users settings for the TIF location is NOT the same as the Downloaded Program Files folder and that the Downloaded Program Files folder is where it should be. (It should also have a different icon to other folders, as it is special) Regards. | Re: Website can not save some files to the Temporary Internet File Thank you kindly Rob for your time. I check as you suggeseted, but to no avail. I found the answer to be the BlackIce firewall we are running on these particular machines was faulty. After i removed the firewall and reinstalled it. the users are able to gain access to the website. funny thing with the firewall, even when I "Stopped" and Disabled the firewall service. It must have still been running, only after i performed the deinstallation did functionality return to this and other websites. After a fresh reinstall of the firewall functionality remained acceptable. My conclusion is that this firewall had a faulty installation and was imaged to all these computers with the error. Thanks again :-) Hiren "Rob ^_^" wrote: > Hi Hiren, > > Downloaded exes (ActiveX) should be downloading to the 'Downloaded Program > Files' folder (see under your windows root folder), not the Temporary > Internet Files folder (TIF) which is usually located either under the local > or shared Documents and User Settings Folder. > > Guess....Check that the users settings for the TIF location is NOT the same > as the Downloaded Program Files folder and that the Downloaded Program Files > folder is where it should be.
