IE-7 Links icons??

How can I get the icons from various websites to display in the links
toolbar?

They are there under Win XP but when I boot into Vista.....no icons.

Re: IE-7 Links icons??

Hi Dave,
XP and Vista in the same partition? Its not recommended. A previous post was
made on this subject.
IE7 for Vista and IE7 for XP have differing version numbers.

Regards.

Manually? E.g. find out where a copy of the icon is and then use
the Change icon... dialog to have the *.URL shortcut point there.

Alternatively, since you have two cases to compare, open the .URL files
in Notepad to see if there is a difference in that area. E.g. for *.URL which
have icons in XPsp2 I see IconFile= and IconIndex= in them.

Good luck

Re: IE-7 Links icons??

They're on the same drive (hdd-0) and on separate partitions.

Re: IE-7 Links icons??

Thanks, but that would be too much work for the many links that I use.
I know that there is a way of making all the icons update but have forgotten
how I did it a year ago.

Re: IE-7 Links icons??

To do this for all your bookmarks, not just those in your 'Links' area
download and install 'AM-DeadLink' from the following URL:

http://www.aignes.com/deadlink.htm

Very hand tool to do eactly what you wish and more.

Re: IE-7 Links icons??

Download 'FavOrg' from PC magazine. It's a small program that will download
and install all your favicons.

Re: IE-7 Links icons??

I guess here is the best place to ask... I had an issue where a few of the
icons in my links bar disappears and is now showing the default one. Anyone
know why this happened and how I can fix it? eg. photobucket and flickr both
went from their own icon to a default one.
