| IE 7 stealing window focus problem Ever since I downloaded IE 7 I have a problem with it stealing window focus when I'm using another application (like my card game). I installed TWEAK UI and have tried using the feature in that program to stop this, but it doesn't help. I've reapplied that feature many times and I've looked in the MS knowledgebase for help. Anyone have info on this? It must be happening to others, but I asked some months ago and got no response. Sure would be nice to stop it. thanks, Grandma Jo |

| RE: IE 7 stealing window focus problem ActiveX controls that use Java Platform, Standard Edition 1.3 or 1.4 After you click on an ActiveX applet control in a program that runs the applet control by using Java Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) 1.3 or J2SE 1.4, the focus does not go to the applet control. You must click the control a second time to establish focus. The focus behavior works correctly in J2SE 1.5. To obtain the latest version of J2SE, visit the following Sun Microsystems, Inc. Web site: http://java.sun.com/j2se http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/912945 -- Gistcheckin "Grandma Jo" wrote: > Ever since I downloaded IE 7 I have a problem with it stealing window focus > when I'm using another application (like my card game). More important than the page which is interrupted is the one which is doing the interrupting and the cause of the interruption. E.g. if it is being caused by a certain kind of scripting there is probably nothing that you can do other than be aware of the cause of the problem and take steps to avoid it, such as load About:Blank on top of it. > I installed TWEAK > UI and have tried using the feature in that program to stop this, but it > doesn't help. I've reapplied that feature many times What setting did you try? The one that says "flash taskbar button"? Does it flash? > and I've looked in the > MS knowledgebase for help. You didn't have to wait *that* long to ask again. ; ) > Sure would be nice to stop it. > thanks, > > Grandma Jo > > HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- |

| Re: IE 7 stealing window focus problem I went to the Java site and installed Java, but it didn't fix the problem. Thanks for the idea though. Appreciate it. - Grandma Jo "Gistcheckin" <Gistcheckin@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:34BB90F6-FCC3-4676-8D14-721E51C21EAB@microsoft.com... > ActiveX controls that use Java Platform, Standard Edition 1.3 or 1.4 > > After you click on an ActiveX applet control in a program that runs the > applet control by using Java Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) 1.3 or J2SE > 1.4, the focus does not go to the applet control. | RE: IE 7 stealing window focus problem I have the same problem. I ALT-TAB to another program (Excel, Outlook, Money, etc), let go of the ALT-TAB keys, and Explorer pops back to the front. It is very annoying. It's like a little child screaming in your face "look at me look at me!" | Re: IE 7 stealing window focus problem It seems odd that I didn't have this problem until IE7. None of the other versions of IE have done this over the years. I would think someone would know why, or else it would be a common problem that folks just live with and ignore? - Grandma Jo "Paul D" <Paul D@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:D6A8DB9F-49CD-483A-AF54-9BE65673BA13@microsoft.com... > > I have the same problem. | Re: IE 7 stealing window focus problem I don't understand what he means to do by loading "about blank" on top of it. Can you explain how to do that?
