IE7 tab not working properly

Hello, as I made this post in Windows XP General:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...5-bb585e8f2d98
and suggested to create the post here.

Hi,

If I'm not wrong, few days ago, without changing any settings on IE7
(especially with the TAB settings), it can automatically open a link in OE in
a new tab in the current window.

But now, sometimes it'll overwrite the current window and sometimes it'll
open a new IE7. Not like Avant browser that it'll ALWAYS open any link in its
new tab in the current window.

Someone noticed and know how to fix it?
I've tried to change the TAB settings that looks close to the problem but
still no luck :(

Is there any known issue that makes the TAB not working properly? Maybe
Addon,
Toolbar etc?

Re: IE7 tab not working properly

Hi,
First, you should try running IE7 with add-ons disabled. An add-on might be
causing this problem.
See: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/troubleshoot.asp
for troubleshooting information.

Next, I developed this problem after making changes to file association
settings for
URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol. Reversing the changes didn't fix the
problem.
The fix for me was to uninstall IR7, run ie-rereg from
http://iefaq.info/index.php?action=a...=31&artlang=en then
reinstall IE7. Restart after each step. See other important tips at
http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html

Hope this helps,
Don

OE _should_ open the first link in a new tab and subsequent links in the
same tab. However, it's behavior seems to me to be inconsistent and
unpredictable.

Re: IE7 tab not working properly

But my Windows (XP Home SP 2) just new. Recovered using its recovery CD (came
with the box). I'm using laptop Toshiba Satellite L100 with 1GB RAM.

I installed IE7 directly from Microsoft website. I don't save the installer.
When the download window come, I click Run. And so does another Microsoft
product like WMP 11, Windows Defender, etc.

There's no new updates available right now when I run Windows Update and
Microsoft Update.

Currently there are three Toolbar running in my IE7 right now. Google
toolbar, RoboForm and Windows Live toolbar.

No strange items in the addon.

Maybe there's a known issue that makes tabbing on IE7 not working properly?

Re: IE7 tab not working properly

I also posted this question in another forum. The story:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"It's working now. The link is from Microsoft.

Before, I've Avant with 4 tab opened. IE7 still not open. I received a mail
from Microsoft. When I click the link, looks like Avant won't recognised/open
the link and IE7 not automatically open.

I wanna search/ask about this issue on IE7 community. So I open IE7 then
open IE7 site on the favorites.

The link I received before, will automatically opening in a new tab of
current window of IE7.

Strange or it'll just working with specified link like links from Microsoft?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"And now, the mail notification of EE opening in the new tab of IE7 in the
current window. Avant still opening (4 tab). If IE7 not running, Avant will
open it in the new tab (current window).

Hehe, looks like everything is fine now. But I must must watch it. Maybe 1-2
day."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I've SpeedFan program installed. If I perform an online analysis of my hard
disk, it'll open a new IE7 (not a new tab in the current window). Avant ans
another IE7 still opening...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"And now, I've completly closed/exit Avant. There's no Avant running in the
background (SysTray) anymore. I received mail from Microsoft. When I click
the link, a new IE7 opening also mail from EE.

Really a strange behaviour. Hm, maybe because of after SpeedFan make IE7
open a new IE7 and IE7 will continue to open link with a new IE7 too?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Nothing is change in the tab settings."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
