IE7 MSN Money Investment Toolbox (Portfolio Manager)

I have searched this discussion group and the internet and I have not seen a
solution that works yet.

The problem I have is that the MSN Money Portfolio option crashes IE7. I
have added the trusted sites that I have seen recommended in other places. I
know that is working as I get the Trusted sites message in the status bar at
the bottom of the screen.

By disabling the PortfolioManager Class add-on, the crashing stops and the
"protfolio box" shows up with the red x.

Has anyone gotten this working at all? If someone is working on a fix, do
we know roughly when it will be available.

I would hate to have to load all of my stock information into another tool.
I have been using this tool for years.

Re: IE7 MSN Money Investment Toolbox (Portfolio Manager)

It's seems to have become more problematic ever since the release of Vista
and the recent server maintenance. I am not sure if these two are related
or coincidence.

Have you reviewed these pages
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...stions.aspx#Q8
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/165954/en-us

With IE7, barring a return to IE6(unless you are running Vista) and assuming
you have a backup copy of your portfolio that is not corrupted have you
uninstalled the toolbox via XP's Control Panel/add-remove ?
- note in Vista it can be accessed via startmenu search or run with
appwiz.cpl.

Add these sites to your trusted zone: Note the * and enter exactly as shown.
*.moneycentral.msn.com
*.fdl.microsoft.com
*.g.msn.com
*.live.com
*.microsoft.com
*.msn.com
*.passport.com
*.passport.net

Renable all moneycentral IE add-ons.

Delete the moneycentral cookies in the profile used to access the portfolio
via Windows Explorer, then use IE to access the portfolio to reinstall the
software.
- Prior to reinstall temporarily disable your AV, any script screening
in your firewall, and if applicable turn off Windows Defender. If Symantec
software also disable Internet Worm Protection.

Note: If Vista, and only Vista
- you may still get an error that toolbox install failed on each access. It
will be present in add-remove, but it will function.
- If you also find that you get a blank page or the common tasks menu is
missing, do not sign out, just click on the
Portfolio link on the same page or navigate to the Investing Home or MyMoney
page then return to the portfolio..the menu should load properly.
- if multiple pc access do not store the mny and mbf files on a shared
network drive.

Re: IE7 MSN Money Investment Toolbox (Portfolio Manager)

Thanks for the replies.

My operating system is XP SP2. I had reviewed both articles referenced.

I deleted my moneycentral cookie (which did trigger the reinstall of the
Investment Toolbox), turned off my symantec internet worm protection (for 1
hour ;-), and added the 8 sites with * to my trusted sites exactly as shown.

I have the following MS-Money add-ons enabled
- MSN Money Charting
- MSN Money Quicklist
- MSN Money Screener
- PortfolioManager Class

Unfortunately, it still did not work. I must be missing one more minor item.

Thanks for all the help!

Re: IE7 MSN Money Investment Toolbox (Portfolio Manager)

I found the missing piece ;-).

I went to
\Documents and Settins
\My User Account
\Application Data
\Microsoft
\Money
and deleted everthing in money.

I also deleted all of my cookies.

With the trusted sites, the problem now appears fixed!

Thanks for all of the help!!!
