"404 errors" and "search results" return incorrect data

If I go to a page that would normally display a "404" or a "page not found
error", I immediately get directed to another webpage. The address bar
always shows the exact address which I typed in (usually a typo of sorts) but
the page displayed is always one of 2 different pages. One is
"http://oqem.com" and the other is "http://yahoopolicycentre.com/" Both of
them are filled with many links to other sites. The links vary each time,
but most of them are porn. This problem seemed to crop up simultaneously
with the upgrade to IE7 from IE6 in WinXP. I know the actual upgrade
couldn't (or at least shouldn't) be the problem, but something did happen at
the same time.

Since the same upgrade, I've also been having problems with almost every
search engine. When I click on any of the returned results, it doesn't take
me to the address listed, but to various search pages. When I click the
back-button, and then click the same link again, it takes me to still another
seach page. After repeating this about 4 times, it usually takes me to the
link that's listed in the results. If I simply type in the address rather
than clicking on the link, I get taken directly to the correct page (provided
of course that I've not mis-spelled something).

I've run several mal-ware removal tools (spybot, ad-aware, spy-sweeper, and
various anti-virus tools) but nothing is ever found. Several people have
suggested that turning off the "friendly error messages" would fix the
problem, but it doesn't.

Does anyone have anoter suggestion that might fix my headaches? Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
