IE PNG Images with Alpha-transparency -> Alpha(opacity) will not w

Hi,
i´m display links with a hover-effect. I use -moz-opacity and the ms filter
alpha(opacity). Now, i need to do this with semi-transparent png Images. No
problem in all browsers except in the IE (up to 7).
Is this still a "bug"?

Thanks much
Matthias

It wasn't ever a bug, it was just unsupported.
It has now been added to IE7.
It will not be retrofitted to < IE 7

Re: IE PNG Images with Alpha-transparency -> Alpha(opacity) will n

Hi Dean ,

i´m loading the png´s for ie>=5.5 over css with the alphaimageloader-filter.
this is supported - but i don´t know how to add the opacity to it
> It has now been added to IE7.

sure? in my case the result is better than ie6, but still no
alpha-transparency when i´m load a png normal over the img src. FF make´s it
nice. so, i must use the alphaimageloader also on ie7 to get a a+ result

remark: i have "switched" the problem. now, i use gdi+ to transform the
image "on the fly" and make it lighter. But this was not what i want...

Does nobody know how to combine the alphaimageloader with the alpha(opacity)
filter?

regards
matthias

The point is that you DON'T use the alphaImageloader.
It is all done natively using the standard HTML stuff.any old "PNG fix"
scripts/code should be disabled in IE7 as they WILL cause problems and
worse results.

sure, i use it...

i think, without this little rest of compatiblity to older versions the ie
will die... btw - this "png fix" is a microsoft one. why should it disabled
in a newer version of a product. today you need a hand full css to make a
website for all browsers - and then 10 hands full of fixes for the ie.

but this (the displaying of png´s) was not the main question. the only
question was: is it unable to combine filters. (in this case the
alphaimageloader AND the opacity)
If this is true i have to find another solution. Else i have a mistake in my
script

thanks for your help
Matthias
