Is Max Simultaneous Tabs Capped At 55??? AGH!

Does IE7 cap the maximum simultaneous open browser tabs at 55?

This is a major, major limitation for power users. Neither Firefox nor Opera
have any artificial cap.

For some repetitive online tasks, I regularly open 500 windows in Firefox.

Since IE7 has PageZoom (which, incidentally, Opera has had for 11 years), I
switched to IE7. Imagine my profound disappointment when I got to 55 tabs and
it would not open any more.

At the very least, the tab cap needs to be an "Advanced" option that can be
unchecked.

Actually, the cap is 53. That's ridiculous.

My RAM doesn't fill up during average web browsing until about 100 tabs, and
if I disable images my RAM won't fill up until about 900 tabs. And I ONLY
have 1 gig!

Different people report different numbers. I don't think anyone has figured
it out. I've never run into a cap, but I don't think I've ever had more
than 12 open.

Re: Is Max Simultaneous Tabs Capped At 55??? AGH!

Hi,

Look for "If you are a heavy user of Tabs (50+) " about the middle of the
page at
http://www.ie-vista.com/tabs.html
This may move the limit up to 80-90 tabs (not 500.)

Hope this helps,
Don
