embed error: [object Error]

I upgraded to IE7 on my Windows XP system a month or two ago and haven't had
any problems until recently. Last night I tried to go to the Saturday Night
Live videos webpage on nbc.com to download a Peyton Manning skit. When I
first enter the site I get a Windows Internet Explorer error message, "embed
error: [object Error]". I click "OK" and I am unable to select any of the
videos to download. When I mouse over the links the information displayed on
the left side of the bottom window bar is, "javascript:void(0);". Can anyone
tell me if this is something to do with my Internet Explorer settings, the
webpage itself, or something else altogether?

RE: embed error: [object Error]

Possibly a damaged scripting engine. See the following re: Windows Update

RE: embed error: [object Error]

Thanks for the reply, Gistcheckin. I actually tried this but no success. I
guess the "javascript:void(0)" part is not actually the problem, because I
tried the same website at work and when I moused over the different links the
same thing appeared. However, the "embed error: [object Error]" message did
not appear when I first went to the page at work, and the videos downloaded
no problem.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

same problem

I have the same problem. I tried our other computer that has IE 6.0. The videos work fine. nbc.com is the only one I am having problems with.

Re: embed error

Hi Dean:

Nobody knows what the "same problem" is.

In a newsgroup, if you start a new post when you want to reply to an old
post you are breaking the continuity of the discussion so nobody knows
what the heck you're talking about.

same problem, but with IE6

I'm running XP Hole edition (SP2) and IE6 and noticed the same issue - NBC.COM will not play but streaming video anywhere else is fine. I never had problems with NBC.com before this week, so I'm wondering if the latest Microsoft security updates might be the issue? I did contact NBC.com's tech help but no response yet.

Very frustrating!

NBC viewing IE

I have several computers in my home and only of one of them I got the same message when I tried to watch an episode on nbc.com. The other computers were able to work just fine.

What same problem?
Since you changed the subject, started a new thread, and didn't include any
reference to the original post, you're in outer space.

Egghead strikes again.

NBC video not working

I believe it was a security patch that went out. My IE6 worked just fine until an update ran and NBC video never worked again. I played with the security settings and tried to load EI7. Neither solution worked. If NBC wants to keep customers they need to resolve this issue fast.
