I know that, at some time in the past, there was a thread talking about how
to get windows to open on the desktop at a position that you chose. Can
anyone remember when that was or how I can get to it? Thanks.

I think that if you close the window using "File" and then "close" that will
work. Closing the window with the "X" symbol does not do this.

Hello,

IE and other programs usually remember the position of the last closed
window.

I have written a small command-line utility that can be used to open IE and
other applications at predefined positions on your desktop. It is also
possible to use the command in desktop shortcuts.
