| What's the matter with I.E. 7 ??? I.E. 7 Problems: Okay, I'm having three problems with I.E. 7, I've contacted and spoken to tech. support at Microsoft, (HERE'S THEIR NUMBER: 800-936-5700) but the problems have yet to be resolved. They're recurrent. I'd like to fix these problems once and for all and need your help. I'm sick of jumping through hoops to get this browser working. I have Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 2 and all updates, except the most recent .Net framework updates. The last time I updated .Net, my PC went haywire (story for another time). I'm actually afraid to update .Net now because of this. 1. COOKIES For my antivirus AND firewall, I have eTrust Internet Security Suite. It's up-to-date with definitions, etc. The program's firewall interface within it is almost identical to Zone Alarm's firewall. In fact, I think Zone Alarm actually wrote it. I also use a small program (and have for several years now, with no problems) called Window Washer (made by Webroot) that stores cookies from websites that I frequently visit (one site is my homepage on MyYahoo.com). The rest of the cookies from other websites and third party cookies it clears when I close my I.E. browser. To troubleshoot, I've tried disabling Window Washer, this hasn't helped. When I open MyYahoo.com homepage, I always have to login with my username and password. With I.E. 6, I almost never had to do this. So, I called Microsoft Support... Microsoft Support told me to reset my browser settings to the default setting in the Internet Options' Security Tab and then to "allow" all cookies (which were already allowed). This didn't fix the problem. I'm constantly having to log on every time I open I.E. 7. This is so annoying. 2. I.E. 7 - "Cannot Display Webpage" Another problem I'm having: When clicking on a link inside a document, email or webpage, it fails to connect and I get the following error: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. (I am connected, there's no problem there) The website is encountering problems. (it isn't. I have to hit refresh) There might be a typing error in the address. (*there isn't, I checked) What you can try: Diagnose Connection Problems" (It finds nothing wrong) Then it shows a link for "More information" What's going on here??? ANOTHER PROBLEM- 3. I Can't play news videos (Unresolved Microsoft Support Issue): 3/18/2007 Microsoft Support Case #: 1031765141 Trouble with I.E. 7: I'm having a problem with A/P news videos not playing. CNN videos play fine. What we did: We reset I.E. 7 browser to manufacturer settings, and clicked "OK." Then we went into "Advanced Settings", Under the "Browsing" area, we enabled third party extensions, by checking the corresponding box. This also didn't fix the problem, videos still won't play. By the way, JavaScript IS enabled in the "Manage Add-ons" menu. All necessary add-ons for Internet browsing are enabled. I've run scans for viruses and spyware, nothing is found. Are all of these problems occurring because of my firewall settings?? I've even tried disabling my firewall and all of the above problems still occur. I need to resolve these issues, can I get some help, please??? Thanks. |

| Re: What's the matter with I.E. 7 ??? You may have a horked install of IE7. I suggest reading the following link... http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html#pre-install ....and then uninstalling and reinstalling IE7 per Sandi's tips, and using http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx as the installation source, not Automatic/Windows Update.
