Back/Forward Buttons To Refresh From Cache Not Web Site

Is there a way to set IE7 so when you click on the Back/Forward buttons,
it'll read back 100% from cache and not bother waiting for the site? It
doesn't make sense to delay the display when I was just there. If I want it
fully refreshed, I'll click on the Refresh button.

Provided the page is completely cached, yes. Two ways that I can think of.
Set Work Offline before using Back. Then there will be no network access
attempted. Alternatively (and this might even work to some extent even if
everything in the page is not completely cached), set cache-checking to Never
That means that provided the file is cached no check of it currency would be done,
effectively achieving the same result as setting Work Offline would.

Cache-checking: Never isn't something that you would want to use in general
so you would have to get used to flipping between settings: e.g. Alt-T,O,Alt-S,N
and Alt-T,O,Alt-S,E. I suppose those would be useful as keyboard/mouse macros
or implemented equivalently by toolbar buttons.

FWIW I think that the best way of dealing with the Back issue is thinking ahead
and preserving pages that you want to return to in their own tab or window
by using a modified click (e.g. press Ctrl- or Shift- etc.) when using a link
in such a page. Then to go back all you do is close the tab or window
(or switch back to the tab or window). All without any network access
required at all and all without any additional rendering required too.
