IE 7 Will not open certain webpages

I get the error message - internet exolorer cannot display the web page
I already installed a MS patch that was supposed to mimic IE6 for certain
sites. NG.
So far it is only happening on one site. I have two comps on in the house ,
other comp XP is fine. This is a very common web site, sort of drudgery. Only
happens with this new notebook running home basic vista. I have found a way
around, delete history and it works for a while. Any ideas?

RE: IE 7 Will not open certain webpages

I have the same problem, and have been trying for two weeks to resolve it.
The sites I cannot open always were fine using IE7 and XP, and also open
perfectly using the Firefox browser. What patch are you referring to? Maybe I
need that.

You don't need to delete History. Just press Ctrl-F5.
If that works it means that the site's caching mechanism
(or an intermediate cache) is broken.

BTW make sure that you are using HTTP 1.1 as some sites
now assume that even when presented with HTTP 1.0
while others reply with an HTTP 400 error response, etc.

Tip: you can use FiddlerTool to see what differences caching makes
and why Ctrl-F5 helps avoid problems with it.

If it is a publicly accessible site and you still need help, post the link.

Good luck
