| IE7 Keeps Shutting Down! I have a recurring problem that is getting worse. I will be in the middle something and receive the message that IE has to shut down due to error. And then it shuts down. Now it's happening several times a day or more. I have not added anything unusual to my computer that I'm aware of. I have Windows XP Home Edition. Could someone help me? |

The suggested solution was to close all add-ons, but this does NOT solve the problem at all. I have given up on this and use Firefox, which runs fine. May be someone will come up with the solution. |

The suggested _diagnosis_ was first to use No Add-ons mode. If No Add-ons mode changes the symptom that would suggest that disabling some of the Add-ons using the Manage Add-ons tool could be a useful circumvention of the problem symptom. Having identified the problem cause the resolution then would be to remove or repair the incompatible add-on --or just leave it disabled. There are some add-ons and device drivers which can not be disabled by these procedures; so then more generalized troubleshooting techniques would have to be used. See the Knowledgebase articles which the following search finds for details: http://search.msn.com/results.asp?FO....microsoft.com (Live Search for intitle:xp intitle:clean intitle:boot site:support.microsoft.com ) > I have given up on this and use Firefox, which runs fine. That is another way to circumvent the problem symptom without bothering at all to try to identify its cause. ; ) FYI Robert Aldwinckle --- |
