| Thoughts on new IE7 gui? I don't like it I know this topic has probably been discussed, but it's always interesting to hear peoples input. What are your thoughts on the new user interface of IE7? I know it might have some advantages, but I don't like it. I used to be a die hard user of IE. I still use IE, but ever since IE7 changed the interface, I found myself using FF more and more. Now I use FF for my leisure browsing, and only resort to IE for work or things which I need to use it for. I don't really want to switch back to IE6, because at least the tabs and other new functions of 7 are good, it's just the interface which I can't quite seem to get used to. I wish Microsoft programmed a means where you can switch back to the old interface, like they did with the XP Start Menu where you can apply the classic look. I don't like drastic changes in UI being forced on me, and I imagine I can't be the only one is bothered by this. |

| Re: Thoughts on new IE7 gui? I don't like it Hello Freddie, I am working on an alternative user interface for IE7 that looks more familiar and is more customizable than the new navigation bar. Take a look at http://www.quero.at/ Best regards, Viktor Krammer -- http://www.quero.at/ The New Web Experience |

| RE: Thoughts on new IE7 gui? I don't like it Hi Freddie, I had IE7 on for about half an hour before reverting back to IE6. I went to install my first add on and an error message came up so I thought if this is what happens when you go to install an add on I will not bother. I have been amazed at how badly wrong microsoft got the browser bar considering the brains behind the operation. Reading this forum alone so many people have been having problems and you can see why they are using other web browsers. Opera is a great one to try and I use that with IE6. Was the add-on developed and tested for IE7? Although Microsoft invested a lot in backwards compatability there always remain small and subtle changes that can have big effects on 3rd-party software if it relies on previous functionality or made assumptions that are not true any more. | Re: Thoughts on new IE7 gui? I don't like it Hi Viktor, Yes it was a recommended IE7 add on, something like pop up blocker or similar. Came back as an error and put me off from that point. To be honest I am still happy with IE6, yes it is limited but it works. "Viktor Krammer" wrote: > Hello, > > > I had IE7 on for about half an hour before reverting back to IE6. | Re: Thoughts on new IE7 gui? I don't like it Hi Starzbhoy: AFAIK Microsoft has not 'recommended' any particular add-on for IE 7. The add-ons that are perhaps most commonly used - Java and Flash - work fine. Nobody around here minds if you choose to go back to IE 6, just don't do it for the wrong reasons. IE 7 is here to stay, like it or not, so we may as well get used to it because that's where the development action is going to be. --- Leonard Grey Since no one was buying 'Earl Grey' Starzbhoy wrote: > Hi Viktor, > > Yes it was a recommended IE7 add on, something like pop up blocker or > similar. | Re: Thoughts on new IE7 gui? I don't like it Hi Leonard, That is great to hear as I still like and use IE6. The reason I am doing it is because IE6 works which is quite a good reason to use it. IE7 has had it's fair share of problems as witnessed by this forum and still needs an awful lot of work doing to it. I have no objection to IE7 staying, just thats it's not for me. I would use opera, Netscape and a host of other browser bars which are out there. Thats the beauty of independent sites like downloads.com who review and give honest opinions on new things like browser bars. A lot of problems need to be ironed out first with all of them and once done I will make my final informed choice. Unfortunately IE7 got off to a bad start and has a lot of catching up to do. That is certainly true. That is why it is so important that the public bug tracking database is reopened again. Best regards, Viktor Krammer -- http://www.quero.at/ The New Web Experience |

| Re: Thoughts on new IE7 gui? I don't like it Hi again Starzbhoy: In your opinion, is IE 7 as it is now significantly different from the initial release of any other substantial software product? --- Leonard Grey Since no one was buying 'Earl Grey' Starzbhoy wrote: > Hi Leonard, > > That is great to hear as I still like and use IE6. | Re: Thoughts on new IE7 gui? I don't like it Hi again Leonard, Unfortunately I cannot answer that question as I uninstalled IE7 about half an hour after downloading it, that was last year sometime. I never did put it through it paces once I got the error message I went straight back to IE6. I have not seen the latest version of IE7 so cannot compare with any other browser bars out there, sorry. Thanks for your interest.
