I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2. I recently installed IE7, which works fine.
But I am unable to get Windows Explorer to open after the install. When I
try to open Windows Explorer, sometimes I briefly see the hourglass, then
nothing. Other times, I get a message about an error and explorer having to
close. When this happens, event viewer will show the following Event ID 1000
error:

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module
ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x000106c3

When I uninstall IE7 and revert to IE6, Windows Explorer opens fine. I have
repeated the install and uninstall several times, and the error is
reproducible every tme.

I have tried clean booting and disabling all background programs and non
Microsoft services, but this has not made any difference. I have searched
the usenet, and have come across posts of similar problems, but no solutions.

Any ideas?
