Multiple Internet/Security Zones utility?

Hello. Does anyone know if there is a utility out there which allows
you to define multiple Internet/security zones? For example, let's say
you wanted to have a couple to switch between, each with their own
customized settings. What I really want is a quick way to specifically
disable axtivex/flash components from ever showing, but without having
to always go into the security zone settings to click the respective
checkbox.

And if anyone knows of a site which has IE add-ons (ie. like the ones
for FF) please met me know!

Thanks in advance!:)

Re: Multiple Internet/Security Zones utility?

Hi Freddie,

I don't know of any utilities for this but you can add your own custom zone
to IE and add sites to it, so what you require should be possible.

Regards.

Hey Rob, how do you add a custom zone? I know how to 'customize' the
settings of the zone. But to add a new zone altogether, I didn't know
that could be done in IE.

It can be done, just google for it.

Re: Multiple Internet/Security Zones utility?

Hi Freddie,

Save a Zone from the Registry in a reg file

You will find your User Zones on this node

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones\4

Edit the file and change the value 4 above to 5, Find the Zone name and Zone
icon values and change accordingly.

Save your changes and then merge the reg file back into the registry.

The next time you open up the Internet Options you should have your new zone
visible and selectable. You should now be able to adjust its security
settings to disable flash and then add sites that you want to include in
this custom zone.

Covenants: I have not tested this in IE7 and there have been changes made to
the Zones structures for IE7 so there are no guarantees.

Please post back with your findings.

Regards.
